Marie Yardely Dumont, lovingly known as “Agoum”, was born on May 12, 1951 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and raised in Leogane. Agoum was a wonderful and caring mother, grandmother, tatie, daughter and sister. Agoum passed away peacefully on September 5, 2015 after a valiantly fought illness.
Agoum was full of life and energy and tremendously enjoyed welcoming everyone into her home. She loved cooking (a skilled she learned starting at the age of 8, as she loved to remind us) and entertaining family and friends. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, as she enjoyed having a house full of family and friends and watching them savor her delicious cooking. Agoum’s favorite shows, which she religiously watched, included The Price is Right, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She also enjoyed trips to the casino; however, her favorite pastime was gardening.
Agoum worked in the banking industry for over 35 years and was a proud retiree of JP Morgan Chase.
Agoum is survived by her two children, Nadine and Andrew, a daughter-in-law, granddaughter, several sisters and brothers, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous loved ones.
